This role will include:

  • Through supervision of project staff and subcontractors, foster, lead and promote good project culture presenting a collaborative environment of high morale
  • Participate in and contribute to the preparation of head contract claims for variations, delays and other commercial entitlements. Ensure all site-based factors are considered
  • Maintain contact and communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and local authorities in line with project requirements
  • Manage and verify site set out and survey, establishing adequate control and recovery datum
  • Coordinate subcontractor planning to ensure adherence to project objectives
  • Engage in continual improvement and meet quality objectives, providing solutions where required.
  • Check designs and details on plans, resolving issues with the relevant stakeholders
  • Chair and manage regular Subcontractor meetings on site
  • Manage the immediate impacts of matters pertaining to industrial relations, prior to escalation in accordance with company process and procedures

 

In conjunction with the Project / Construction Manager:

  • Identify potential practical cost saving design solutions.
  • Resolve and / or escalate problems as required and in line with the scope of your authority.
  • Regularly communicate on project performance, risk and opportunity including current and potential construction issues
  • Make recommendations and communicate plant and labour resource requirements

 

Contract Administration

  • Identify and record any current or potential risk pertaining to programme or scope, communicate with the Contract Administrator for collaborative assessment
  • Participate in and contribute to the preparation of head contract claims for variations, delays and other commercial entitlements.
  • Review the contract at project commencement and understand the key clauses for day to day progression of the works in accordance with the contract
  • Assist in the evaluation of head contract claims for variations, delays and other contractual claims
  • Contribute to and maintain awareness of commercial claims ensuring maximum flexibility and entitlement are preserved in balancing construction progress and compilation of notices, especially early notices submitted before the impact of events can be fully ascertained
  • Manage your responsibilities and interactions in protecting commercial entitlement when communicating with Clients, particularly in relation to delay events
  • Maintain awareness of and participate as required by the Contract Administrator in downstream commercial claims and management of subcontracts throughout construction and finalisation at end of DLP
  • Assist the Contracts Administrator in the scoping of trades and selection of subcontractors, the letting of the subcontracts and items relative to market forces as required

 

Programme Management

  • Prepare or assist the Project Manager to prepare Contract Programmes, review and submit to the Construction Manager prior to external submission
  • Maintain or work with any allocated external Programmer to maintain effective programme management throughout the term of the contract
  • Conduct progressive status updates on a minimum monthly basis or any additional frequency as required to maintain adequate commercial awareness of project position
  • At each status update report on performance and present any identified slippage, risk or opportunity for Project / Construction Manager review
  • Conduct / implement any change or mitigations approved by the Construction Manager prior to amendment of the programme
  • Update and present contract programmes monthly or as otherwise required by the Contract for approval of the Construction Manager prior to issuance under the contract

 

Key Attributes and Skills:

  • Nationally Recognised Construction Induction
  • Recognised Degree
  • Industry experience, including:
    • Minimum of 5 years in estimating, administration and project management
  • Complete understanding of:
    • Construction or civil materials and methods
    • Project programming
    • Management and planning skills
  • Exposure to contract administration
