Steve Margetic AM recognised in 2026 King’s Birthday Honours

We are proud to congratulate our Managing Director, Steve Margetic AM, on being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the King’s Birthday Honours for significant service to the building and construction industry, and to philanthropy.

For those who have had the privilege of working alongside Steve over the years, this recognition comes as no surprise.

Since becoming Managing Director of Sitzler in 1988, Steve has helped shape not only our company, but the broader construction industry across the Northern Territory and Australia. His leadership has always extended beyond the projects we deliver, with a strong commitment to advancing industry capability, supporting regional development, fostering meaningful Indigenous partnerships, and creating opportunities that leave a lasting impact on local communities.

Through his service on numerous boards, committees and industry organisations over the years, including his current tenure as Chairman of the Darwin Major Business Group and Director of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Fund, Steve has consistently championed initiatives that strengthen the Territory’s future and support sustainable growth.

The unwavering support encouragement and partnership of Steve’s wife Carolyn has been fundamental to his success.

This honour reflects a lifetime of leadership, vision and service. It also reflects the respect Steve has earned from clients, subcontractors, industry peers and community leaders who have witnessed firsthand his commitment to excellence, integrity and building lasting relationships.
