Whyalla Hospital Contract Awarded – Whyalla Hospital Emergency Department & High Dependency Unit Redevelopment
We are thrilled to announce that Sitzler has been awarded the contract for the redevelopment of Whyalla Hospital, a critical project that will enhance healthcare services for the regional SA community.
Sitzler will deliver the following scope:
- 70% increase in treatment bays in the Emergency Department, with 12 new bays added.
- New facilities including a negative pressure isolation room, behavioural assessment rooms, and a triage and assessment zone.
- Upgrade of the High Dependency Unit with beds relocated closer to the Emergency Department for quicker, more efficient care.
- Improvements to waiting rooms, reception areas, and patient transfer pathways, ensuring better functionality and enhanced patient care.
Staged work will continue throughout the redevelopment, with all hospital services operating as usual. Sitzler has a long history of working in regional Australia and contributing to the community, and we look forward to delivering this vital project for Whyalla.
We are proud to be delivering this project in partnership with Department for Infrastructure and Transport and SA Health.
Construction has commenced and will be completed in mid-2026.
