Palmerston Police Station Construction Complete

Palmerston Police Station
It was a busy six months for the Sitzler project team who recently completed the construction and handed over the new Palmerston Police Station in Darwin. These new $30 million facilities will replace the existing Police Station, providing upgraded 24-hour Policing capability which includes, administration offices, operational areas, watch house, community hall, and services building and covered parking areas. Northern Territory Chief Minister Michael Gunner said of the facilities “Palmerston is a fast-growing, family city and the new, modern Police Station and Watch House will enable up to 200 Police to deliver key policing outcomes into the future. The facility provides a permanent and central physical presence in the Palmerston area, which will enhance response times”.

As a high-profile project for the local area, Sitzler maximised local participation throughout the construction period, including the use of a local secondary school whose VET students were tasked with fabricating the steel beams required for the carpark. Sitzler committed to and delivered on our promise for maximum indigenous participation on the project with indigenous workers equating to 19% of the total project hours. Having previously constructed the Australian Federal Police Headquarters in Darwin and a Police complex in the remote top end community of Wadeye this project is testament to Sitzler’s capability to deliver quality first class facilities for the NT Government and NT Police.
