The Boolardy Station Aerodrome is an uncontrolled Aeroplane Landing Area (ALA) featuring two runways. The upgrades aim to enhance the aerodrome’s functionality, safety, and capacity to support both routine and emergency operations. 

The upgrade works for the aerodrome include: 

• Runway 15/33, Apron, and Taxiway: Sealing and extending the existing runway 15/33, along with constructing a new apron area and taxiway. The upgrades will ensure proper integration with the cross runway. 

• Perimeter Fencing: Removal of redundant fencing and extension to accommodate the additional 300m of runway. A provisional option includes replacing site fencing with a new security and wildlife fencing system, subject to client approval. 

• Airfield Lighting: Expansion of the existing solar AGL lighting system and installation of emergency and security floodlights for the apron area.

This project includes a variety of headworks to allow for the construction of a state-of-the-art motocross facility, attracting international events and boosting local tourism. The Archer Zone Substation ultimately saw the new 27MVA transformer provide alternative power supply and capacity to the fast-growing Palmerston region. Although initially comprising a single 27MVA transformer, the site was designed and constructed to accommodate a future configuration of three 27MVA transformers plus an additional 66kV transmission line linking Archer with the Hudson Creek Substation.

The Litchfield Park Road Upgrade involved the formation, upgrading and sealing of the Litchfield Park Road loop, including the construction of the Lower Finniss River Bridge. Two separate sections of existing unsealed road were upgraded with the completed works requiring more than 40,000m³ of cut-to-fill earthworks within National Park boundaries.

The Rapid Creek Flood Mitigation at Darwin International Airport controls the impact of floodwaters on the Rapid Creek floodplain. Earthworks included the excavation of a 95,000 mega litre detention basin, flood retention embankments and extensive culvert installations including two major crossings under the main airport entrance road, Henry Wrigley Drive.

The civil works associated with the NT Secure Facilities included the clearing of more than 40ha of dense vegetation, mulching, cut and fill operations and the construction of a reticulated temporary sealed roadway system for construction traffic. All civil works for roads and service installations including power, water, communications, sewer and stormwater as well as associated water retention structures.

Sitzler undertook the bulk earthworks and pavement package for the emitter sites at the Delamere Air Weapons Training Range. This required the sourcing and placement of 300,000m³ of engineered fill along with 6 sealed intersections that provide access from the Buntine Highway road corridor, all delivered within a very tight time frame.

Client: Winchelsea Mining

Winchelsea Mining, in collaboration with the Anindilyakwa Land Council (ALC), initiated manganese exploration on Winchelsea Island to assess mineral quantities for potential mining in order to provide direct economic benefit and opportunities to the Anindilyakwa people. The project required establishing access in two phases: constructing a 5m wide, 120m long temporary barge landing and creating a 40km network of access tracks for more than 160 drill sites. Despite logistical challenges, Sitzler successfully offloaded more than 2,000 tonnes of rock to build the barge ramp and advanced clearing works for the exploration team. With a flexible approach and early engagement, Sitzler extended the drilling program, adding 32km of tracks and 348 drill sites, completing the project ahead of schedule.
