Dick Guit Joins Sitzler as General Manager
23 February 2012
Sitzler Pty Ltd today announced the appointment of well-known Darwin businessman Dick Guit as General Manager.
Sitzler Pty Ltd owners Steve Margetic and Michael Sitzler said the appointment was a coup for Sitzler.
“This boosts our senior management team at a time of continuing growth of the business, both in terms of the scope and sophistication of the work we are taking on” said Steve Margetic.
“The appointment follows a decade-long partnership between Mr Guit and the owners of Sitzler Pty Ltd. This partnership has included joint ventures on projects such as the Darwin Hospital Redevelopment, Darwin City Waterfront Redevelopment and Territory Alliance,” Steve said.
Dick Guit came to the Territory in 1976 to work on the rebuilding of Darwin after Cyclone Tracy. Dick is well-known in the Territory building industry through his service on many industry associations. He was Vice President and head of the training committee of the Territory Construction Association (and remains Vice President of the TCA’s successor the Master Builders’ Association), he chairs the Building Practitioners’ Board, is on the board of NT Build and the Industry Capability Network and sits on the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council and NT WorkSafe Advisory Council.
“Dick’s considerable experience together with his local and national networks will be invaluable to the business as the Territory enters a time of heightened building activity. He is well-known for his commitment to local industry and suppliers, improving training and standards in the construction industry and promoting Indigenous employment,” Steve Margetic said.
“His demonstrated commitment to the Territory is a perfect fit with the proud culture of Sitzler Pty Ltd, a company which has been operating in Darwin for over 35 years and in South Australia for over 10 years,” he said.
Sitzler is one of the Territory’s largest privately owned construction companies with a track record of successful project management, and design and construction across the Territory and South Australia.
Current major projects include the NT Secure Facility in joint venture with Baulderstone, the Single Living Environment and Accommodation Precinct (LEAP) for Defence and the Village@Parap development.
“The appointment of someone of Dick Guit’s calibre further reinforces our ability to meet the opportunities afforded by the Territory’s growing construction and infrastructure needs,” Steve Margetic and Michael Sitzler said.
