Sitzler Pty Ltd in Joint Ventre with Laing O'Rourke was awarded the design and construction of Darwin Convention Centre in 2005. The world-class, multi-purpose facility which is perched dramatically over the sea was completed in May 2008.
The Centre incorporates highly flexible and adaptive spaces to cater for meetings, banquets, conventions and exhibitions.
The Convention Centre features:
Plenary Hall – seating 1500 people tiered theatre style;
Exhibition Hall – 4000m area with the capacity 225 exhibition booths, 3000 delegates;
Function Room – catering for up to 630 theatre style or 420 people banquet style; and
Flexible meeting rooms - which can cater for 70 to 170 people theatre style
This world-class, multi-purpose facility was completed two months ahead of the set completion date.
The stand out project was the Darwin Convention Centre. It was not just the size and complexity of this imposing structure but the use of latest technology to provide functional flexibility and operational efficiencies.
